 Important Life Lessons August 2, 2010
I first read this book in 1986 when it was published. I gave it to a friend, but I bought it again to read it because the information is just as timely today. The mind-body connection is the most critical element in the body's physical health, but so few medical doctors recognize this relationship. Dr. Siegel, an experienced surgeon, shares his knowledge and experience in making this connection, helping his patients achieve wellness despite "odds" or "predictions." Every person can benefit from the knowledge and wisdom contained in this book.

Ok, rather than call Siegel a quack, let's just say he resembles a duck. If you're into new-agey, non-scientific garbage, then this is the book for you. Personally, I found it works quite well as kindling for the BBQ.

I think this is the best of Bernie. Good for personal insparation or for people dealing with cancers and or other life altering conflict.

This is a truly wonderful book - especially because it profiles a doctor of exceptional understanding the the patient's entirety. If only all doctors could be so thoughtful!

Another front runner in the realm of conventional medicine. This is a man with a great heart who is prepared to give and not be afraid to do so. He writes with heart and he relates his stories with heart. We need so many more people in the medical profession like this man. He is not afraid to show his human side. How healing that must be for the people he has contact with. Everyone in the medical fraternity needs to read this book and become aware that part of true healing is to show compassion.
